January 2012

-I have successfully completed a Kickstarter campaign to fund the next two chapters of my Life Without Lights project. The first few months of 2012 will find me in the UK and Uganda continuing this body of work.

November 2011

-Nov. 28th - Dec. 2nd - "Life Without Lights - Ghana, Kurdistan, Ivory Coast" exhibition at the Vienna International Centre.

-Nov. 22 - "Life Without Lights: The global energy crisis" on CNN's photo blog.

October 2011

-Oct. 10 - VII The Magazine published a multimedia piece of testimonies I collected in Ivory Coast. The piece highlights the massacres committed by forces loyal to both current and former presidents during post-election violence.

-Oct. 5 - Human Rights Watch published several of my pictures in their report, "They Killed Them Like It Was Nothing," detailing war crimes committed by both sides during post-election conflict in Ivory Coast.

-Oct. 4 - TIME.com published a multimedia piece of testimonies I collected in Ivory Coast. The piece highlights the massacres committed by forces loyal to both current and former presidents during post-election violence.

July 2011

-I have a photo in the July issue of Naitonal Geographic, accompanying an article on the end of Guinea worm in Ghana. As I used to live in northern Ghana and worked closely with the Ghana Guinea Worm Eradication Program, I'm pleased with this on many levels!

June 2011

-Friend and fellow photographer Glenna Gordon interviewed me for Guernica Magazine about Life Without Lights. This may be the most coherently that I've described this project's importance.

May 2011

-VII The Magazine features my Life Without Lights project. Includes old work, new work, and me talking about the project.

-Life Without Lights was awarded in this year's PDN Photo Annual.

-My"Life Without Lights" work from Ghana, Kurdistan, and New Mexico is featured on The National's photo blog.

-My "Life Without Lights" multimedia is playing at Slideluck Potshow in Dumbo, Brooklyn on May 14th as part of the New York Photo Festival.

April 2011

-Life Without Lights was published in the April edition of GEO (Germany).

-I've been awarded a grant from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting to cover the ongoing post-election violence and refugee situation in Ivory Coast. View the project page here.

-Life Without Lights was shortlied in the Anthropographia Award for Human Rights in the mulimedia category.

January 2011

-The British Journal of Photography has recently put online a profile of me from their November issue, featuring my Life Without Lights work and my IPA award.

-My story on Ghana's Kayayo girls was published in the January edition of Geographical magazine (UK).

December 2010

-15th Dec. - I was interviewed by BU Today, an online publication of my alma mater, Boston Univeristy.

-My "Life Without Lights" multimedia is playing at Slideluck Potshow in Austin on December 3rd. If you're in the area, go see a bunch of great photography and eat a lot of food!

November 2010

-Nov. 16th Life Without Lights was published by Newsweek Japan.

-My photography was recently used by Greg Downey, Senior Lecturer in Anthropology at Macquarie University in Sydney, on his Neuroanthropology blog. Unlike the usual journalistic way my photos are used, Greg uses them to make some interesting points about vision and compares places like rural Ghana to those with perhaps 'too much' light in the night sky. October 2010

-Oct. 25th - GlobalPost gave me a chance to write briefly about my work for their Full Frame photography feature.

-Oct. 2nd - My "Life Without Lights" multimedia played at Slideluck Potshow in Ottawa as part of FESTIVALX: Ottawa Photography Festival.

-Oct.1st - I won first prize in the 'body of work' catergory in The British Journal of Photography's International PhotographyAwards with my Life Without Lights series. The prize is an exhibition of the work at The Association of Photographers Gallery in London from November 2nd - 6th.

September 2010

-Sept. 26th - An article about my Life Without Lights series and an interview with me were featured on the Dutch site OneWorld.

July 2010

-My "Life Without Lights" series has been selected for the nightly screenings at Visa pour l'Image 2010 in Perpignan, Fance. At the moment, it's scheduled to be shown the night of August 30th. I will be in attendance.

June 2010

-June 14th - I joined the VII Mentor Program. For the next two years, photographer John Stanmeyer of the VII Photo Agency will be my mentor, and VII will distribute an archive of my work. View the press release announcing VII's new members here!

-I've been traveling village to village in northern Ghana with filmmaker Alicia Sully and Peace Corps Volunteer Leader Allison Terry. -Awarded a grant from The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting to continue documenting Ghana's Kayayo, a class of thousands of young girls who migrate from Ghana's barren north to find work in southern cities.
